The Full Moon on January 26, 2013 will take place in the constellation of blazing Leo. All Full Moons occur in the polar opposite of the sign the Sun is positioned in. This lunar occurrence in particular will underline the equilibrium between friendship and romance. While Leo represents romance (or love between two individuals), Aquarius represents friendship (a much broader/inclusive type of love). Astrologers believe that Leo is associated with the “vulnerable ego” in all of us; with Aquarius taking on the role of the“evolved ego.”
Let’s face it, of the entire zodiac, Leo represents the true creativity at our core while attempting to maintain the status quo. Leo believes, tying only slightly with Capricorn, of a social order that must be upheld. Leo is traditional and does indeed care what people think (regardless how loud they roar stating otherwise). Leo needs to be acknowledged for their “specialness”juxtaposed against Aquarius who has already accepted that they are special—approval not needed. Aquarius represents our desire to observe from different perspectives and broaden our consciousness. While Leo may contend that the individual reigns supreme, Aquarius believes the key to survival is through the collective. Self vs. Society is a major theme for the weekend.
Saturday’s Full Moon will highlight the balancing act of friendship and romance: figuring out what distinct role we play in the greater theatre of life. Maybe we have been negligent to friends in recent weeks (probably attributed to the Sun’s race through career-focused Capricorn). Or maybe we have been too giving to a partnership and need assistance in scaling things back. The Moon will leave steady (introverted) Cancer around 9am EST on Saturday and the entire mood of the day will change with it. Because of this, another huge theme to incorporate this weekend includes playfulness—yes, it’s okay to let your hair down because Leo says so; the fun-loving nature of both Aquarius and Leo suggest that we will crave engagement in things (and people) that bring us joy.
Those of you with your Sun sign and/or Ascendant sign in either Aquarius or Leo will benefit greatly—followed by those with Sun signs in either the Fire or Air family. Those of us with Sun/Ascendants in Earth or Water will also feel the effects but not as strongly as the aforementioned.
And finally, Old Wives’ tales have surmised that Full Moons can increase fertility which is very fitting since the Moon will be cruising through the sign of the hopeless romantic (Leo). Enjoy ! 🙂
