After a few weeks of hovering in impersonal Aquarius, Mars is now transitioning to the constellation of dreamy Pisces on February 1st. Remember, Mars is the planet of action and drive. Whichever sign Mars is positioned in will reveal how we expression our ambitious side. Mars also manages the sexual energy within all of us. Naturally, this makes Mars an assertive sign: separating the wheat from the chaff. When Mars is in Capricorn, for example, we require order and practicality to take us to the next level. Success is intimately intertwined with Capricorn; therefore Mars in Capricorn would highlight achievement as our motivation. Another example: When Mars is positioned in Cancer, we look for motivation from our domestic lives. Protecting and nurturing our family may act as the catalyst for our interaction with others.
Over the past three weeks, however, Mars in Aquarius has thrown out any semblance of structure in our lives. Aquarius lives moment to moment and is not one for rigid planning. They may create a list of things to be carried out in no particular or and at no particular time throughout the day. Aquarius, whose home planet is Uranus, is closely associated with chaotic upheavals, sudden changes in our personal lives, and innovation. Think back to your life in recent weeks, have you experienced an abrupt loss of something: perhaps a relative, a friend, a relationship, a job ? Have you had to change appointments or prior engagements too frequently because of a major obstacle in your way ? Have you felt your life has just been ridiculously (and unnaturally) chaotic lately? Of all 12 signs, Aquarius is least likely to conform & most likely to challenge the status quo. Aquarius looks at ways to shake up a dreary routine and throw caution to the wind. Positively, this trait helped us reflect on which pieces in our “life puzzle” don’t fit, and how we can move forward. Negatively, Mars in Aquarius doesn’t really call for much action. Aquarius is a mental sign, not a physical one, so we may have been less inclined to overwork ourselves or overcommit ourselves to interests that matter little to us.
Now that Mars has moved into Pisces, we can expect the same trend of detachment. Unlike Aquarians, whose heads are usually drifting away in the clouds, Pisceans live inside their heads ! Pisces has a strong attraction to the spiritual, mystical and paranormal. Remember, Mars controls the expression of our motivation and Pisces is motivated by “love for all.”Mars in Virgo, for example, may seek tangible results when pursuing ambitious undertakings. This matters not when Mars is in Pisces, simply because this sign prefers activities that allow introspection and compassion to shine through. During this period, we are likely to be influenced by the arts and alternative lifestyles. Painting, drawing, music, ballet, theatre, poetry, and all things art will be particularly appealing to us: so those of you in fields that require creativity should rejoice for this transit !
Negatively, Mars is an aggressive planet [no wonder it serves as the home planet for “go getter” Aries !]. The effects of Mars are best conveyed when Mars in positioned in a Fire sign or in Capricorn, Virgo, and Scorpio. The first three allow Mars to enthusiastically exert physical energy to bring us closer to our goals [perhaps via frequent errands, meetings, business travels, etc.]. The last three offer discipline and structure to Mars via carefully planned stages. With Mars in Pisces, however, it may be difficult for us to accept certain challenges and maintain focus on mundane tasks. The aggressive nature of Mars mixed with the passive nature of Pisces can only produce passive aggression in our lives. This could potentially be a source of confusion as we attempt to solidify goals : we may flip flop on issues due to our inability to be decisive. Ever heard the phrase, “get to the point?” Well it’s highly unlikely that’s happening. Over the next few weeks, we may have a difficult time getting what we want because we may not know what exactly it is that we want. When Mars was in Capricorn a few months back, we were swiftly decisive and consistent about the goals we set for ourselves. All of this may be thrown out the window as the artistic nature of Pisces may lead us to find something good in everything (and everyone).
In terms of our sex lives, we may seek passionate encounters with our bedmates. With Venus currently in lightweight and playful Aquarius, we will definitely seek romantic connections that provide mental satisfaction. With Mars in Pisces, however, we may seek sexual connections that provide emotional satisfaction. Although Aquarius and Pisces have a difficult time understanding one another, these two could definitely bring an element of fun to our relationships, and intensity to our sex lives.
