On Saturday April 15th, the planet of communication, reasoning, electronics and transportation will be making its way into optimistic and enthusiastic Aries. When in Pisces, Mercury encouraged us to employ our intuitive. Conversations with others—-especially those closest to us—were influenced by emotional triggers (both good and bad).  We may have overreacted when hurt or angered; but positively, Mercury in Pisces brought compassion and empathy to our interactions with others. With Mercury transitioning into fire-starter Aries, our communication style operates at lightning speed. Swift and resolute decision making characterizes this transit as we bounce from one major task to the next. Mercury in Aries signifies mental restlessness: we are on a never-ending pursuit to stay active. Eager Aries has a habit of juggling multiple mini-projects simultaneously, usually because they have so many ideas that summon exploration. Unfortunately, when Mercury is in Aries, details tend to get lost in translation. We must be careful not to commence several ventures without adequately calculating the amount of time, energy and money required to sustain them.

For the next few weeks, Mercury in Aries brings initiative and vitality to our presentations, interviews, conferences or any other engagement that encourages the “meeting of the minds” and conversing with others. Optimism and confidence can seal important business deals and persuade unsure or “on the fence” clients/customers to support your professional endeavors. It’s difficult to control Fire; you either have to watch it spread, or put it out completely: there is no middle ground. Conversely, our schedules while Mercury orbits Aries will operate along similar lines. Expect impromptu meetings, “on the go”conferences, or frequent changes in daily activities. Mercury in Pisces was subdued, subtle and somewhat passive; Aries is definitely in your face, on your radar and over your head at times. Fire signs don’t believe in “behind the scenes” work: they want to be on the frontlines. Naturally, we may all experience a boost of confidence as we risk our reputations to get the credit we deserve.

Mercury in Aries can motivate, lead and blaze new trails. If you’ve been looking for the perfect opportunity to showcase your leadership skills, then roll your sleeves up and get to work! Remember, Aries is a Cardinal sign (as is Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn), and Cardinal signs thrive on taking the reins and starting new undertakings. Aries is putting the spotlight on everyone to shine in the best possible way. Fire and Air signs, however, stand to benefit the most from this transition—especially if it seems these past few weeks have been chaotic and confusing for you. The quiet and reserved nature of Pisces is replaced by opinionated Aries. And with all three Fire signs, a lack of tact is a recurring theme. Because Mercury in Aries will poke at our passions, it’s only natural to assume that we are emotionally vested in our decisions/actions. And for those who may not agree with us, they should be ready to hear a mouthful. During this transit, we must be careful not to display hostility to others who offer “strong” criticism of our ideas and behaviors. The patience evoked by Pisces is no match for the impulsiveness of Aries. We want what we want and we want it when we want it. Although Aries is not one for grudges and “keeping score”, and Arian’s idea of nipping something in the bud can be extreme. It will be much easier to exercise poor judgment under the haste of Aries; and we may end up talking ourselves into a great deal of trouble if we forget to zip our lips.
