On Friday April 19th, the Sun will leave bold Aries and settle into steady Taurus for the next four weeks. Under Aries, we craved boldness, excitement and spontaneity. Aries is an unpredictable sign and that may have manifested in our behaviors. Perhaps you randomly changed your hair or physical appearance, relocated, took an impromptu short trip, suddenly switched careers or something similar. You never really know what you’re going to get when Aries is involved. As a Cardinal sign, Aries takes charge and initiates projects —you’ve probably started several in recent weeks. And as aFire sign, Aries is very active: it’s difficult to get these busy bodies to sit still. With the Sun’s transition into mellow Taurus, life will appear to slow down and steady for a bit. This journey through Taurus is beneficial to theEarth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) and Water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) family.

As a member of the Earth family, Taurus requires practicality and realism in order to function. The Bull is highly resourceful and often self-serving. So the pragmatic activities that Taurus prefers usually benefit them first—if anyone else at all. Hedonistic and materialistic, Taurus, like all Earth signs, place a strong emphasis on material security for emotional comfort. Unfortunately, Taurus overly attaches to tangible possessions as status symbols. The ruler planet for Taurus is Venus, and Venus blossoms when engulfed in pleasure seeking activities. Indulgent Taurus, at times, can be consumed with wanting to “feel good” and neglect responsibility. Positively, Taurus is the most social of Earth signs and flourishes in social environments that allow them to connect with others. Physical comfort is just as important to Taurus as emotional comfort.

In addition to being a part of the grounded Earth trio, Taurus is also a member of the Fixed signs [along with Leo, Scorpio & Aquarius). Fixed signs are determined and reliable; unfortunately, they resist unnecessary change. There is a tendency to cling to outdated methods of doing things and get stuck in routines that are no longer beneficial to them. Fixed signs are unusually persistent and Taurus is no exception: they have a knack for getting what they want, when they want it. Unlike abrasive Sun in Aries who will force their will upon you (think, “my way or the highway!”) , Sun in Taurus will subtly seduce you (think, “if you do this for me, it can help us by…”). Over the next few weeks, you may find yourself employing that Taurean charm to get the things you want out of life. Fixed signs are slow to get moving, but once started, they are unstoppable. We may all grab a hold of this momentum as we settle the dust stirred up by Sun in Aries.

Sun in Taurus provides us all with a unique opportunity to find and maintain happiness in our lives. This is a period to indulge (albeit lightly). Ever heard of “take the time to stop and smell the roses” ?…yes, well that saying was probably created by a Sun in Taurus. Until May 20th(when the Sun enters Gemini), our sensual sides are activated and finding the beauty in every(one) (thing) won’t be too difficult. Culture, art, fine cuisine, and all things artistic will appeal to us—thanks to Sun in Taurus. Enjoy !
